Engaging Teenagers in Conservation through Online Outreach

Client: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Office of Solid Waste (currently Office of Resource Conservation and Recovery)

The goal of this EPA campaign was to provide high school students with the information they need to make environmentally sound choices about the products and natural resources they use, the waste they create, and the environment in which they live. In support of this end, TMN conducted focus groups with teens to test website concepts. Based on findings, TMN designed and developed an interactive website, www.epa.gov/osw/education/teens/think.htm, which has been well received and was successful in its goal to elevate teens’ sense of responsibility for the environment, how the choices they make affect their environment, and to empower them to improve the environment in which they live.
